Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell travelled along with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss issues including and the Iran Contra scandal.
